La Pyramide Inversee
There are hundreds of intricate connections that form the interior structure of the inverted Pyramid skylight at the Louvre in Paris. There is a mathematical symmetry about the whole thing. It is also like a puzzle that you would not want to take apart.
Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II Dome
This is the central dome of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan, Italy. When I looked up, the symmetry of the iron and glass structure reminded me of lace. The dome is approximately 100 feet in diameter. It is the oldest indoor mall in the world, built in 1877 and is one of the main features of the historic center of Milan.
Torre del Mangia Staircase
Every tower in this part of Italy is an opportunity to get spectacular views of the countryside. When I looked down the stairwell near the top of the Torre del Mangia, the geometry of the stone staircase and the diversity of the colors caught my eye.
Beach Chairs of Trinidad and Tobago
The rich gold colors and undulating shapes obscure the true nature of these objects. They are beach lounge chairs stacked on end for storage on the sand. It was a warm day in December, but not one of these was deployed. The beach was deserted.
Patio Restaurant from St Mark’s Campanile
The tower in Piazza san Marco in Venice provides a panorama of the city. It also provided this bird’s eye view of a restaurant on the piazza below. The symmetry that was achieved in the layout of the tables and chairs may have been directed from the top of the tower. It is more likely that someone aligned everything with the stone pavers of the square.
