Duchess of Hamilton
The running gear of the Duchess of Hamilton steam locomotive symbolizes a great age in engineering and design. The pushrods and valves worked in precise unison to turn the giant iron wheels and to move tons of rail cargo at speeds that are comparable to that achieved today. The shiny silver and black finish of the running gear is unexpected for a steam locomotive.
Packard Twelve
The curved lines of the Packard Twelve fender were executed in heavy gauge steel, an art deco sculpture in black and chrome. The Packard Twelve was one of the most powerful and luxurious cars of the day when it was first produced in 1936. The reflective black paint still gives it a rich and formal appearance.
