Adirondack Bicycle Tour 2014 Niskayuna

9 June (No Bicycle Miles)

Back to Planning / Forward to Niskayuna to Gloversville

Traffic was light in the early afternoon as I made my way from the Boston area to Schenectady. After checking in to the Quality Inn in Schenectady, I scouted my tour starting point at Lions Park in Niskayuna for the next day. It was a short drive from my motel to the park. Lions Park has a generous parking area and I called the Niskayuna police department in advance to let them know that my van would be there. I didn’t want anybody to think the van was abandoned or that there was a problem. They took my license number and my schedule.

There is a restored train depot at Lions Park and there were two people who invited me inside although the depot was not open at that time. I talked with Maureen Sausa, one of the artists who work and exhibit at the depot. She is the person who made the proposal to the town to restore the depot and was the person who managed the restoration. It houses some historical Erie Canal photos as well as paintings by Maureen and other local artists. I also let them know that my van would be in the parking lot for a little over a week.

Maureen recommended Scarboroughs Restaurant nearby for dinner, which turned out to be very good.
