Hemingway House Cat
There are dozens of feral cats hanging out at the Hemingway House on Key West, Florida. Apparently Hemmingway was a cat fancier and this is in keeping with the house tradition. Many of them look peaceful, soft, and cuddly as this one. Most of them are mean and will growl, scratch, or bite if touched. The tourists walking through the room where this cat was sleeping resisted the temptation to touch it.
Owl of the Grand Union Canal
In my bicycle travels along the Grand Union Canal towpath near London, I met many characters. Something about the canal seemed to attract them. This day I met a man and his owl. The bird seemed contented to be there, but it was difficult to tell because its expression was fixed in a primitive predatory stare.
